We Remember Mary Mitchell

Today we would like to honor a special volunteer who lost her battle to cancer on Monday. Mary Mitchell was a dedicated sea turtle patroller and facility volunteer for several years. She was an RN and worked at many area hospitals. She most recently worked at South Texas Rehabilitation where she formed many lasting friendships with coworkers and patients. Before her illness, Mary fulfilled her dream of becoming a certified SCUBA diver. This photo of her was taken at Utila, Bay Islands, Honduras during a dive trip.

Staff and volunteers will always remember Mary for her great attitude and willingness to help. She spent many of her days off doing walking patrols and helping feed sea turtles and vacuum their tanks.  She also made amazing baked goods (which former interns still rave about).

Most importantly, she was a dear friend to all those who work here.

Please keep your thoughts and prayers with Mary's family during this difficult time.
