Hang 10 the Kemp's Ridley

Hang 10 washed back ashore in 2009 as a hatchling. Due to genetic defects, this little Ridley is now a resident at our facility and travels to local events and schools to educate the public.

Fred the Loggerhead

Fred was found entangled in fish line in the late 1990's. One front flipper was amputated and Fred was released back twice! The adult male was transferred to our care in 2000. He now weighs around 200 lbs!

Boudreaux the Atlantic Green

Boudreaux stranded at the Mansfield jetties on July 6, 2012. His front limbs were entangled in mono-filament line that was still attached to an old fishing rod. All that was left of his front right flipper was a bone fragment sticking out. He had already lost his back left flipper to a prior injury. Boudreaux is now our newest education sea turtle. He recently had surgery to remove the bone fragment and is recovering in our ICU.

Gerry the Atlantic Green

Gerry was found due to a hurricane during the mid 1980′s. He was held back as an educational animal. Gerry is world famous and has met both Johnny Carson and David Letterman! He is one of our adult male sea turtles and is known for his friendliness.

MJ the Loggerhead

MJ has been a resident since 2004. A predator attack damaged all four flippers. MJ is a feisty loggerhead with bright blue eyes. As a youngster, MJ was transferred back from the local zoo for eating all the aquarium fish!

Allison the Atlantic Green

Allison survived a predator attack with one remaining flipper. For years, Allison could only swim in circles. In 2009, an STI intern designed a successful prosthetic device to help Allison swim! She is now world famous for the device.

Merry Christmas the Atlantic Green

Merry Christmas was rescued in the late 1980's on a chilly Christmas eve. She is non-releasable due to genetic defects. Merry is the only mature female sea turtle resident at our facility. She is very friendly and has been a favorite of visitors for years.
