University of Maine

I often feel like a sea turtle on a long journey, here's the abbreviated version. I grew up in northern New Jersey, but I have been living in southern Maine for the past three years. I started off at Bergen Community College in New Jersey, where I got my Associates Degree in Biology. After that, I attended the University of Maine, where I obtained my Bachelors Degree in Zoology last December. During my last semester there, I was able to intern with NOAA and the university as a student research assistant. I assisted with a project studying the population size of the Diadromous fish species in the Gulf of Maine. This was done by sampling the stomachs of Gulf of Maine predatory fish, mmm fish guts. After viewing the contents of fish stomachs, I know for sure, it's a fish eat fish world out there..but it has been my dream to work with sea turtles since I was a child. I will always remember when I snorkeled with them in Barbados. Last summer I was finally able to make this dream a reality when I interned with the Bald Head Island Conservancy as a sea turtle intern. It was truly a life changing experience, and it confirmed that working with sea turtles is exactly what I want to do with my life. Both of my internship experiences combined are the reason I have a passion for marine research and conservation as a whole. During my free time, if I'm not spying on my cat with a trail cam, I enjoy cooking, outdoor activities, anything related to "The Walking Dead", and watching nature documentaries on Netflix! I am so excited I get to continue following my dream by interning for Sea Turtle, Inc.! Kowabunga dudes!
